Tokyo Chaise Longue
from Cassina
tokyo chaise longue
Design Charlotte Perriand, 1928
Curved wooden strips, bamboo or teak
Made in Italy by Cassina
It is through this veritable piece of design history that Cassina expresses its exceptional wood-working mastery. Designed, but not realized, in 1940, by Charlotte Perriand during her time in Tokyo, this chair uses bamboo to revisit the famous 4 chaise-longue à reglage continu. Its organic form, curvy and inviting, has been re-issued and is now available in teak, and well as bamboo wood.
The seat of this recliner is made of twelve curved strips of wood while the joining elements are satin-finish brass studs. Adding mattresses for outdoor use provides dashes of color to help furnish a veranda, terrace, or any other kind of outdoor space.
The "Cassina I Maestri" (Cassina Masters) collection includes some of the most important furniture created by leading figures in the Modern Movement, pieces which have since become landmarks in the evolution of contemporary design.
All the models in the Cassina Masters collection, by merit of their artistic content and particular creative character, are protected by copyright. The exclusive reproduction rights have been acquired by Cassina.
The seat of this chaise longue is composed of 12 curved wooden strips (teak or bamboo). The joining elements connecting the strips to the bars below are satin brass studs. The base is in solid wood (teak or bamboo). The mattress comes with waterdraining polyurethane upholstery and stain resistant polyester yarn coated in PVC treated with an exclusive formulation, called Glen Raven, guaranteed totally mold resistant and ISO 9001 certified.
The Tokyo Chaise is supplied complete with mattress and headroll upholstered in outdoor fabric. This model should not be exposed to rain or prolonged humidity.
