"Who would say that pleasure is not useful?" -Charles Eames
Designers Charles and Ray Eames established their long and legendary relationship with Herman Miller in 1946 with the boldly original molded plywood dining and lounge chairs. Designed to comfortably fit the body, the sculpted form of the molded plywood chairs are produced using thin sheets of lightweight veneer gently molded into curved shapes with natural rubber shock mounts to absorb movement. Since then, the chairs' aesthetic integrity, enduring charm, and comfort have earned it recognition as the best of modern design. Available in either a lounge or dining versions with chrome-plated steel or wood legs.
In the early 1940s, Charles and Ray Eames experimented with wood-molding techniques that would have profound effects on the design world. Their discoveries led to a commission from the U.S. Navy in 1942 to develop plywood splints, stretchers, and glider shells molded under heat and pressure. After World War II, they adapted the technology to create high-quality chairs that could be mass-produced. The process eliminated extraneous wood, which reduced the weight and visual profile of the chair and established a basis for modern furniture design. A truly comfortable chair that's suitable for businesses and homes. The chair is in the permanent collection of New York's Museum of Modern Art. Time magazine named it the Best Design of the 20th Century.
With a grand sense of adventure, Charles and Ray Eames turned their curiosity and boundless enthusiasm into creations that established them as a truly great husband-and-wife design team. Their unique synergy led to a whole new look in furniture. Lean and modern. Playful and functional. Sleek, sophisticated, and beautifully simple. That was and is the "Eames look."
The chairs are offered in your choice of santos palisander, natural cherry, walnut, white ash or two colors which allow the wood's natural characteristics to show through. Santos palisander is a lustrous veneer that has the same characteristics as the original rosewood, color and grain.

A functional and comfortable work of art, Charles and Ray Eames were genius at design and the LCW is not only beautiful to look at in your space, but really comfortable to sit in! A forever piece that can be placed in almost any room with any style, this is well made, and in continuous production for decades because of it's beauty and quality. Expensive, yes...and also, an icon worth it's cost.
This is a classic designer Eames chair and it’s quite comfortable. I bought one of these for my living room and may purchase a 2nd one. I bought it in the light wood color and truly love it.
Have had an eye on this chair door a while. Finally decided to purchase it. It sits low to the floor but it’s comfortable and looks great
The Eames LCW provides both style and comfort. This was my first LCW purchase. Admittedly I bought it based on its beauty, but was pleasantly surprised by its comfort. I love the way it hugs my back, allowing me to remain in it for extended periods of time. Solid purchase!
Soon after placing an order for the chair, we received an automated call from the shipper. We accepted one of the ship dates offered and sure enough the chair arrived when promised. The product itself is well manufactured, it came sufficiently packaged and feels great to sit on. Highly recommended.
Chair arrived in perfect condition, packaging was outstanding. The large box arrived very timely and no assembly was required - the whole experience exceeded expectations
I’ve wanted an Eames LCW for years. Although you can make the argument that Eames furniture is somewhat ubiquitous and copied to the nth degree, there is something about the LCW that has never lost its charm to me. And I’m not disappointed. The chair sits low and looks incredibly elegant, if not somewhat alien, and is extremely comfortable. More so than I expected, in fact. The back of the chair articulates slightly and forces you to sit with the proper alignment. It’s great for reading a book, typing on a laptop, or watching tv. I really can’t recommend the LCW enough.
