Two years later, Herman Miller introduced Eames Molded Chairs to the world with a choice of five unique bases. Among them, but since lost to history, was the LAR -Low Armchair Rod Base- which converted the versatile single-shell armchair design into a low-set lounge height chair. The LAR base developed the popular name 'Cat's Cradle' and remains coveted by collectors today and is now once again available. The Eames Shell Chair with Low Wire Base supports all armchair shells, and is available upholstered, non-upholstered, or with a seat pad.
