chobi rug

Chobi rugs are traditionally produced in many tribal regions of Pakistan. The word "chobi" is from the Farsi word "chob" which means wood, referring to the source of its natural dyes. Chobis are hand-knotted with hand-spun wool spun primarily by a drop spindle.

Originating from Afghanistan's native sheep, this wool's fiber, called Ghazni, is famous for reaching 30cm long. This exceptional length and its slightly undulating and thin structure provides a high resistance and special softness. Like the other wools, it is an elastic fibre that ages well, which combined with its beauty makes it ideal for weaving carpets.

Nanimarquina was founded in 1987 focusing on offering rugs to a world that is interested in creativity, quality and innovation. Today, Nanimarquina is one of the leading companies in the contemporary rugs sector. Under the premise of "reuse, reduce, recycle", they pay the utmost attention to caring for and preserving the environment that surrounds us. All of their rugs are hand made in countries with great traditions of craftsmanship. Nanimarquina also guarantees that no child labor is used in the manufacturing of their rugs. They also collaborate actively with organizations to further improve standards of living for those directly involved in the process of producing their rugs.

The Chobi rug is handmade with a hand knotted Persian knot technique using 100% hand spun Afghan wool. Custom sizes available on request.
