magis officina round table

"Wrought iron - the shaping of iron by hammering - is one of the oldest techniques for making objects.
For the Magis Officina collection, we wanted to work with this ancient fabrication process and give it a new visual language. As structural elements, they can create furniture of extreme sophistication, refinement and harmony. The surface of wrought iron is alive and imperfect, which lends the objects a special vibration. By reflecting the random, mechanical traces of the tools that gave them shape, these pieces bring a breath of fresh air to the industrial scheme." -Bouroullec brothers

With their Officina Tables, designers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec honor an ancient craft-forging and hammering iron to fabricate forms. As a result, these tables' geometrically composed bases bear the random traces of the craftsman's tools, achieving a feel of spirited materiality. Available in different heights, the bases support streamlined tops in various sizes and shapes, and a choice of materials.

The two brothers, Ronan and Erwan, have been working together since 1999. Their collaboration is a constant dialogue, nourished by their single identities and strived towards a common goal. Today, the Bouroullec brothers work with numerous manufacturers such as Vitra, Cappellini, Issey Miyake, Magis, Ligne Roset, Habitat and the Kréo Gallery. They were named "Creator of the Year" in 2002, elected "designer of the year" in 2003 and have won multiple other awards. Their creations have been exhibited in many collective or solo exhibitions and are part of some permanent museum collections around the world.

This new geometry is used to construct a large range of tables with tops of different size and nature (steel, wood, glass). Frame in wrought iron, cataphoretically-treated and painted in polyester powder. Top in smoke grey tempered glass or American walnut. Please call the hive showroom with any questions: 1-866-663-4483.
