rolled arm sofa 72"

"I am interested in the essence, the bones, in contrast to surface ornament. In any product I ask myself, does it work? Will it last?" -Ward Bennett

Ward Bennett's work has had a lasting impact on designers interested in achieving contemporary, understated luxury. His sensuous yet minimal Rolled Arm Sofa, a modern version of the classic chesterfield, has universal appeal and can move from residential to commercial spaces with ease. Its generous, low-slung, architecturally scaled volumes and crisply mitered upholstery provide a graceful silhouette. Perched on recessed solid wood legs and produced in walnut or ash, Rolled Arm is available in three sofa sizes or as a club chair.

Ward Bennett's story is a remarkable one. His career began at age 13, when he quit school to work in the garment district in New York City. At 15, he designed his first clothing collection; at 16 he left for Europe, where he continued working on fashions. Simplicity and comfort were always his goals. Bennett designed more than 150 chairs, many of which have become classics. He is considered the first American to use industrial materials for home furnishings, well before the high-tech look of the 1970s became popular. He was hailed by the American Institute of Architects for "transforming industrial hardware into sublime objects." Many of Bennett's designs are in the Museum of Modern Art's permanent collection as well as in the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum; he is also in Interior Design magazine's Hall of Fame.

The Rolled Arm sofa features walnut or ash legs offered in your choice of a variety of upholstery options. The Rolled Arm sofa is available in three sizes.
