japan rug

With a design that seems totally random and spontaneous, the GAN Japan rug is manually knotted with 100% virgin wool in an attractive coral color. This manufacturing technique creates precisely that sensation of casual and fortuitous design the rug transmits, almost in the same way nature springs, in wild and heterogeneous ways. For its textured surface one may find multiple analogies: from a rain of petals, to fields of cherry blossoms, or a colony of marine corals.

The hand-knotted technique is a manual rug-making method that allows for extremely detailed designs, precisely because rugs are made knot by knot. It is a very laborious technique and, consequently, it offers great flexibility. Bearing this peculiarity in mind, we at GAN create hand-knotted designs with both uniform patterns as well as with an apparent randomness.

Japan, made in an attractive coral tone, shows subtle color variations because it is made with tie-dyed threads, a method in which textiles are tied while being colored, applied in this case to individual wool threads. Japan was designed by the internal design team at GAN and it is available in two sizes.
