haiku tall two seat sofa

"We try to find a balance between the traditional and the surprising, between harmony and disharmony." -Gamfratesi

Haiku is a Japanese form of poetry, where so much is expressed in a few simple lines. The same is true for Gamfratesi's poetically designed sofa that was launched by Fredericia in 2012. Haiku was received to so much success in its first years, that in 2015 Gamfratesi added this low back version, Haiku Low, to the Collection.

In Haiku a protectively encompassing outer shell is combined with a softer interior, providing an intimate enclosure. Haiku is an enveloping sofa that invites reflection and refuge. Gamfratesi is Danish/Italian design duo Stine Gam and Enrico Fratesi, and references to their inherited juxtaposition of design cultures are easily identified in Haiku. The design is clear and well conceived, incorporating an interesting twist that gives the sofas a modern appearance. The contrast between the enveloping outer shell and the soft, intimate inner is highlighted by a contrasting combination of textiles. With delicate black lacquered legs, Haiku seems to almost hover above the ground.

Haiku sofas can be part of largers environments, where the high rise back creates intimate spaces. With the lower back of Haiku Low, the sofa fits perfectly into private homes and other interiors. Combined with the high-backed Haiku, an unexpected contrast between two personalities is created.

Haiku is an eye-catching and inviting design statement for hotel lobbies, executive offices and private homes. The modern contemporary design partners well with both high-tech and classical interiors. The Haiku Low is available in both 2 and 3 seater versions with a low or tall back.
