prouve table flavigny

"Prouvé combines the soul of an engineer with that of an architect" -Le Corbusier

During the years of the Second World War, the Ateliers Jean Prouvé planned and executed a number of interior design projects for the Solvay chemical company. Table Flavigny, originally conceived as a meeting table, is one of these designs. The first units ended up being used in the Flavigny Sanatorium, which gave the table its name.

The aesthetic charm of Table Flavigny, which is now being reintroduced by Vitra as an elegant dining table, lies in the contrast between the domestic character of the solid wood top and the strictly functional design of the base. Typical of Prouvé's work, the base features four tapered legs positioned at a 45º angle on the outermost corners of the table top. This adds stability to the steel frame construction while also providing users with maximum legroom.

Table Flavigny is available in the standard dimensions of 94.5" x 35.5" with solid wood table tops in natural oak, smoked oak or American walnut with an oiled finish. The base has a smooth powder-coated finish in deep black, with leg tips made of robust, polished aluminum to protect against dirt and scuffing. The glides can be adjusted within a range of 10mm to accommodate uneven floors.
