Ej195 Insula Dining Table

Design Anne-Mette Bartholin Jensen & Morten Ernst, 2009
Lacquered aluminum, linoleum or rector top
Made in Denmark by Erik Jorgensen

Like clustered islands, the Insula tables form an archipelago, but they also work well as singles. Here, group and individual do not cancel each other out but offer two options that work equally well. A strong feature. Insula is a flexible table series that includes café, coffee, dining and conference tables that blend naturally into both home and workplace settings. Insula's organic and slightly asymmetric shape creates a natural and recognizable expression, while the angular frame adds a contrasting design touch.

With their joint work in recent years, Anne-Mette Jensen (1969) and Morten Ernst (1964) have manifested themselves as exponents of contemporary Danish design. The duo's collaboration dates back to their time as students at the School of Architecture, where they won Erik Jørgensen's talent competition for the day bed Waves. Most recently, the duo has drawn international attention with the sofa series In Duplo, which won Wallpaper's Design Prize in 2011. Other neo-classic designs by the duo for Erik Jørgensen include the table series Insula, the bench EJ 144 and the easy chair Ginko.

Insula dining tables feature a black lacquered aluminum frame with a black linoleum top or white rector top. The Insula collection is offered in a variety of shapes and sizes. Please call the hive showroom with any questions: 1-866-663-4483.

The Erik Jorgensen story begins in the town of Svendborg on the southern coast of the Danish island of Funen. Erik Jorgensen delivers furniture to countries all over the world, and the brand is associated with a sound aesthetic that is more than a passing fad. An aesthetic that rests on tradition and craftsmanship, but which is also nurtured by innovative furniture designs by both young and more established designers.
