poul volther ej5s corona spectrum chair
Design Poul Volther, 1964
Molded polyurethane foam, lacquered spring steel frame
Made in Denmark by Erik Jorgensen
When Poul M. Volther created Corona in 1964 the chair was an obvious hit. Corona was light yet had a sculptural gravity that was not easily forgotten. Corona Spectrum is Corona's new sister and an extension of a design expression that is the essence of Danish Modern and of stylish furniture taste. Corona Spectrum maintains Corona's confident attitude but in an updated version, where the frame and upholstery either match or contrast each other. Corona Spectrum is colorful, contemporary and young.
Poul M. Volther was a trained cabinetmaker who also attended the School of Arts and Crafts. He belonged to the generation of architects who had their roots in Scandinavian functionalism, where organic design and the modernist motto of form-follows-function prevailed. In addition to leaving his mark in Danish and international design history with his Corona chair, Poul M. Volther also taught at The Danish Design School and thus influenced hundreds of new designers with his unerring sense of form and his strict requirements for quality and functionality.
The Corona Spectrum lounge chair features molded polyurethane foam with a lacquered steel frame. Matching ottoman can also be specified. Please call the hive showroom with any questions: 1-866-663-4483.

The Erik Jorgensen story begins in the town of Svendborg on the southern coast of the Danish island of Funen. Erik Jorgensen delivers furniture to countries all over the world, and the brand is associated with a sound aesthetic that is more than a passing fad. An aesthetic that rests on tradition and craftsmanship, but which is also nurtured by innovative furniture designs by both young and more established designers.
