edit upholstered chair
Design Philippe Cramer, 2004
Solid wood frame, upholstered seat & back
Made in USA by Bernhardt Design
The seat and back of the Edit chair seem to rest gently, like a bent slip of paper, on its solid wood base. Available with an upholstered or wood veneer seat, the Edit chair sits perfectly under a dining or bistro table or can stand alone against a living room or foyer wall.
Swiss and American by nationality, Philippe Cramer was born in New York and raised in Geneva, Switzerland, where he now resides. After schooling in Switzerland, Cramer studied in London and received his Certificate in History of Decorative Arts of the 19th and 20th Century. In 1996, he graduated from the Parsons School of Design in New York where he studied furniture design and photography. With a broad base of creative experience, he formed Cramer + Cramer with Barbara Cramer in 2001, a company specializing in the design and production of luxury goods under the Philippe Cramer brand. As Creative Director, he designs diverse collections ranging from furniture and lighting to glassware and jewelry. His works have been profiled by numerous high profile design magazines from around the world.

Bernhardt Design was founded in 1980 by the 125-year-old Bernhardt Furniture Company. In 2001, Bernhardt Design cemented its reputation as a leader and innovator in furniture design and production by partnering with Ross Lovegrove to create the iconic Go Chair, the world's first magnesium chair. Since then, President Jerry Helling has assembled an international roster of creative talent, including Arik Levy, Jaime Hayon, Jeffrey Bernett, Lievore Altherr Molina, Yves Behar and Charles Pollock. Bernhardt Design strongly supports the rising generation of creative talent through its interdisciplinary course at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena and the ICFF Studio program.
