sibis flix push car
Design Wolfgang Sirch & Christoph Bitzer, 2005
Birch plywood, rubber wheels, 2 years +
Made in Germany by Sirch
The Sibis product line was developed in 2000 and owes its name to the two designers SIrch and BItzer: their initials forming the basis of this simple name. They rejected the mostly static, practical but ugly, design and construction of most toys currently available. They favored a design concept based on powerful aesthetic principles - the kind of toys that would look good even in the most chic, modern house, beautiful enough to leave out, not tidy away. The two children's ride-ons Max and Flix represented the first moves in this direction, followed by a variety of re-designed classics.
Sirch has developed, in the last thirty years, from the craft traditions of coachbuilding to a modern industrial enterprise whose manufacturing processes focus on the production of a range of wooden goods. Based in southern Germany's Alpine foothills, their space-age production facility was designed in 1999 by the architects Baumschlager & Eberle from the Vorarlberg region. It combines a traditional design concept with radical construction methods and featured time and again in the international press.
The Sibis Flix push car features a birch plywood body with heavy-duty, very silent wheels. Optional Lorette trailer in birch is also available. All goods have been tested for children's use by the German technical safety authority Tüv and the well-respected consumer association 'Spiel-gut' have awarded their recognition to most of the models in the SIBI range.
