pillar™ low dresser

Design Michael Anastassiades, 2019
Wood veneer, brass detail
Made by Herman Miller

If you ask designer Michael Anastassiades, the bedroom doesn't draw quite enough attention for its role in the home. His Pillar Bedroom Group is an honest answer to the shift of a previously utilitarian room to a sacred space of leisure and contemplation. He began this project as he begins all projects - with a singular focus on quality and an exploration of the kinds of materials and details that stand the test of time. The result is a united and discreetly beautiful essential bedroom collection with considered brass details.

The Pillar Low Dresser is constructed of solid wood with 6 soft-close drawers and brass pulls. Back panel is finished for applications where the cabinet can be placed anywhere in the room. The dresser comes with adjustable glides. Ships assembled.

Herman Miller was a West Michigan businessman who helped his son-in-law, D.J. De Pree, buy the Michigan Star Furniture Company in 1923. De Pree had been working at the company, which opened in 1905, since he was hired in 1909 as a clerk. De Pree knew his father-in-law was a man of integrity, so he decided to rename the company after him. By the middle of the 20th century, the name Herman Miller had become synonymous with modern furniture. Working with legendary designers George Nelson and Charles and Ray Eames, the company produced pieces that would become classics of industrial design.
