reframe high back lounge chair

reframe high back lounge chair

Design EOOS, 2018
Solid ash or walnut, foam & dacron, upholstery
Made in the USA by Geiger®

Casual settings that support collaboration are among the most popular spots to work in most offices. Reframe lounge seating brings comfort and a distinctive aesthetic to these spaces across an office landscape. Three back heights built upon a common base provide a range of functional choices, while upholstery hugs the crisp lines beautifully.

The designers of EOOS set out to design a family of lounge furniture with a strong internal logic. By starting with a common base, minimal in appearance but visibly sited on the outside of the upholstered form, they were able to unify the seat, backrest, legs, and stretchers of the lounge chairs both visually and technically. The same internal logic extends to coordinating tables, which are also built on a common base.

The Reframe wing-back lounge chair features a solid wood frame with an upholstered seat ad back. The frame can be specified in ash or walnut and the foam and Dacron cushions can be upholstered in fabric or leather. Low and open, the mid-back is designed to encourage conversation. The high-back offers a bit more support, while the wing-back goes further, almost wrapping the sitter to encourage focus and limit peripheral distractions.

high-back lounge chair: 31.25" w | 33.5" d | 38.75" h | seat: 16.75" h | 70lbs.

Herman Miller was a West Michigan businessman who helped his son-in-law, D.J. De Pree, buy the Michigan Star Furniture Company in 1923. De Pree had been working at the company, which opened in 1905, since he was hired in 1909 as a clerk. De Pree knew his father-in-law was a man of integrity, so he decided to rename the company after him. By the middle of the 20th century, the name Herman Miller had become synonymous with modern furniture. Working with legendary designers George Nelson and Charles and Ray Eames, the company produced pieces that would become classics of industrial design.
