The aim behind the structural design of AC 4 was to discreetly integrate the functional elements required for optimal comfort. Until now, the design of office chairs has emphasized either their aesthetic appearance or their functional features. By contrast, the integration of ergonomic features in AC 4 is so subtle that its sophisticated structural components remain concealed. It achieves a balance between the most advanced ergonomic functions and an unobtrusive appearance: the innovative technical features of AC 4 are neither put on display, nor are they hidden beneath foam padding. AC 4 is an emblematic object with an elegant appearance and uncompromising functionality, ideally suited for refined offices and conference spaces.
The Italian designer and architect Antonio Citterio knows how to combine timeless elegance with unsurpassed comfort. He has worked with Vitra for around 25 years creating a variety of pioneering designs. After many years of experience in creating dynamic and healthy seating, he has now applied his expertise to the private living area, with the Repos collection as his premiere pieces.
AC4 features Flowmotion mechanism with synchronized forward tilt (can be disengaged) and seat depth adjustment. The mechanical unit is powder-coated in basic dark. The self-supporting backrest structure has horizontal stitched padding with a polished aluminum backrest mount. The polished die-cast aluminum ring armrests are fixed in position. The five-star base is in polished die-cast aluminum with double casters (2.4") in basic dark. Please note: AC4 office chair does not include adjustable lumbar support.
