panton fun 2ta table lamp

Fifty years ago, Verner Panton shook up the world of lighting design with a major launch at the 1964 Cologne Furniture Fair. His lamp series "FUN" was like nothing anyone had ever seen before. Some loved it - some laughed at it - but no one was indifferent. Now, 50 years on, Panton's FUN has become one of his most iconic works.

The lamps in the Fun series are composed of metal round discs which are flexibly connected with one another by small metal rings. Arranged in chains of varying length, the discs are either suspended from a metal ring or - in the case of the larger models - a round ceiling plate. Depending on the number and length of the chains of discs, the lamps take different shapes. The bulb is in each case located in the center. The heat emitted by the bulb creates thermal radiation that creates slight movement among the discs, which act as reflectors. Fun was created to be seen and heard. It deserves much more than a corner and a remote spot in your room. Use it as a prominent and inspiring part of your interior design.

As one of the most influential and remarkable designers of the era, Verner Panton (1926-1998) has created objects, spaces and art. He was a master of the fluid, futuristic style of 1960s design which introduced the Pop aesthetic to furniture and interiors. His original, space age designs have won numerous awards and been exhibited in museums and private collections around the world. His ideologies and design concepts are apparent and have had great influence on 21st century design.

The FUN series is offered in a variety of sizes and configurations. The Fun 2TA table lamp features metal discs on a three ring metal frame. Discs are connected with small metal rings. Please call the hive showroom with any questions: 1-866-663-4483.
