objective table lamp

With this small table lamp Jean Nouvel addresses the theme of man's relation with his personal space. The character of the object - a tube containing different sets of optics - recalls the lens of a still or movie camera and its manipulation. Objective has an elementary shape that breaks up into 3 perfectly geometrical volumes to arouse spatial perception on three levels by means of two LED light sources. The first level provides indirect ceiling light via a smart optical unit. Level two is more an operational one, which uses an optical unit with 360º rotation on the horizontal axis to direct light towards different parts of the working top. Level three opens up to the surroundings with indirect light emission adjustable on the vertical axis between 0 and 45º. The use of light as an architectural expression, the small-sized Objective lamp encloses all the technological wisdom and lighting skills in favor of a personal interpretation of individual space.

Instead of leading the eye to observe different distances in the way that happens with a telescope or a camera lens, the function of the Objective table lamp is obviously to bring the light sources to bear on objects at different distances, illuminating them properly by establishing the focal ratios best suited to each situation.

Objective features a glossy black painted aluminum body with a semi-opal methacrylate diffuser. Includes two dimmer switches located on body to allow for separate operation of the two light sources.
