Sleek, smooth and functional is an apt description of René Holten's Lotus and Low Lotus. Made from Cristalplant, a new composite material that's snow-white, hard as marble, soft to the touch and easy to clean. The design of the Lotus and Low Lotus stretches the frontiers of this material to its limits. The way in which the molded tablet flows into the shell is only possible with this sort of composite material. The central stainless-steel base with its four slim legs emphasizes the sloping shape of the shell.

The Low Lotus has been designed for the home. The Lotus chair, with a molded tablet for writing or working with a laptop is more in tune with the contract market. An innovative and functional design. Lotus chair does not swivel.

Rene Holten is a graduate of the Design Academy in Eindhoven. His first design for Artifort was the DoDo in 1997, which immediately won the best Dutch Furniture Design in 1998. Holten enjoys sober, clean lines of design and seating. A large number of his designs are now included in the Artifort collection. The Lotus chair, received the Good Industrial Design award in 2009. And his Mare & More Mare sofa series is a favorite item in many living rooms. The Pinq Lounge bears his unmistakeable signature - an almost sculptural design and yet surprisingly comfortable.
