As designer and artist, Enzo Mari has created products in numerous fields of design. He has done research in the psychology and perception of space, color and volume. His collaboration with Danese has been quite intensive since the fifties but has also designed products and furniture for other companies. Mari has been awarded two Compasso d'Oro awards and exhibits his designs in museums around the globe.

Enzo Mari

Enzo Mari (b. 1932) of Novara, Italy studied at the Brera Academy in Milan from 1952-1956. In the 1960s, he published a series of books, including "The Apple and the Butterfly," a wordless book of paintings depicting the story of a caterpillar and an apple. In the 1970s, he founded the Nuova Tendenza art movement as a professor at Società Umanitaria, also in Milan. Also in that decade, he designed the Sof Sof chair and the "Box" chair, as well as other products and furniture. Mari has taught at University of Parma (Parma), the Accademia Carrara (Carrara), Milan Polytechnic and ISIA (Florence), the Hochschule der Künste (Berlin), and the "Hochschule für angewandte Kunst" in Vienna. He has multiple works on display at the MOMA.
