Design Studioilse
Solid walnut, oak or beech wood, polished aluminum
Made in Portugal by De La Espada

Sidekicks is a series of small occasional tables that live throughout the home to accommodate our different activities. They are the right height and dimension to sit next to sofas and chairs, for drinks and snacks, papers and magazines, or a short time on the laptop. Available in various sizes, with a tabletop of polished aluminium set upon solid wood legs. Designed by Studioilse and manufactured by De La Espada for the Studioilse brand.

The timber is sustainably harvested and the farms are methodically cared for, ensuring exceptionally strong planks of the highest quality. Mortise and tenon joints, dovetailing and lap joints combined with slow-drying wood glue that seeps deep into the fibres of the solid wood create strong, unbreakable bonds adding long life to every piece of furniture.

Ilse Crawford heads the design company Studioilse alongside her brand consultancy. A figurehead for design that puts the human being at the center, she has a definitive approach to creating charismatic and long-lasting brands. Fascinated by what drives us, brings us together and ultimately makes us feel alive, Studioilse manifests this through brands, buildings, furniture and products. They have a broad and impressive portfolio which includes a slew of award winning projects.

Sidekicks are offered in solid American black walnut with a Danish oil finish, American white oak with a Danish oil or white oil finish, or beech painted pure white (RAL 9010 - high gloss finish) or black/brown (RAL 8022-high gloss finish). Tabletop is polished aluminum.

De La Espada was founded by Luis De Oliveira and Fatima De La Espada in 1993. Hailing from Porto and Madrid respectively and educated in London, the founders opened the first De La Espada store in London in 1996, when there was comparatively little quality contemporary furniture in the city. De La Espada's dedicated factory in Portugal specializes in hand crafted traditional construction methods to create modern furniture with timeless appeal and the warmth of solid wood. The De La Espada aesthetic evolved from influences including the Arts and Crafts movement, architects such as Tadao Ando, John Pawson and Alvaro Siza, as well as Scandinavian design from the 1950’s.
