Design Ole Wanscher, 1960
Solid wood, down molded cold foam, upholstery
Made in Denmark by Carl Hansen & Son

OW150 is a timeless and elegant daybed with simple forms finished to the very highest standards. Slim dimensions and resilient forms are characteristics of Ole Wanscher's designs. Classic and yet singularly modern at the same time.

Ole Wanscher was born in Copenhagen in 1903 and was an architect and professor of architecture with furniture design as his specialty. He came to shape Danish furniture, both as a designer and as a master teacher. Construction and form were of the utmost importance to him, treating furniture design as if it was a branch of architecture. His furniture designs are now considered to be modern classics - sophisticated and functional with an exquisite attention to detail.

The seat is made of hand-woven stretched cotton webbing attached to a solid wood frame. The cushions consist of down molded cold foam, upholstered in your choice of fabric or leather. Cushion is not turnable.

A workshop in Odense, Denmark in 1908, was the birthplace of the Carl Hansen company. With a fast reputation for quality work, Carl Hansen confidently took on large projects like dining room sets and bedroom suites. However, Hansen eventually learned to capitalize on scaled-back versions of his popular sellers, realizing that their strongest asset was its hand craftsmanship and rationality. Carl Hansen invited Hans Wegner to create designs in 1949, launching a mutually beneficial relationship bringing success to the company and exposure to the young Wegner. Wegner was still relatively unknown, but soon gained wide acclaim that continues to today.
