laurel bench

Design Mark Goetz
Solid maple or walnut
Made in USA by Bernhardt Design

The fluid lines of the Laurel bench were created to welcome the sitter. The inviting softness of the upholstery is held within an elegantly formed base crafted from solid hardwood. Inspired by Chinese antiquity, the piece represents an ongoing respect for classical forms.

Mark Goetz's love for product development and his understanding of manufacturing began while working in his family's plastic injection molding business. Born outside of Pittsburgh, he was educated at Pratt Institute and spent a semester abroad to focus on furniture design and architecture at the Danish Royal Academy in Copenhagen. In 1988 Goetz founded TZ Design, a multi-disciplinary firm where he began his business by designing one-of-a-kind pieces for private commission. Goetz continues to create designs that reflect the directions he has explored over the years.

Laurel bench features a three panel upholstered seat with a solid wood frame in your choice of upholstery and finish options.

Bernhardt Design was founded in 1980 by the 125-year-old Bernhardt Furniture Company. In 2001, Bernhardt Design cemented its reputation as a leader and innovator in furniture design and production by partnering with Ross Lovegrove to create the iconic Go Chair, the world’s first magnesium chair. Since then, President Jerry Helling has assembled an international roster of creative talent, including Arik Levy, Jaime Hayon, Jeffrey Bernett, Lievore Altherr Molina, Yves Béhar and Charles Pollock. Bernhardt Design strongly supports the rising generation of creative talent through its interdisciplinary course at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena and the ICFF Studio program.
