Design Noe Duchaufour-Lawrance, 2013
Upholstery, exposed wood trim, solid maple
Made in USA by Bernhardt Design

In the Catherine lounge chair, Parisian designer Noe Duchaufour-Lawrance has created a stylized form that is thoroughly modern, yet romances the artistry of furniture making. "Catherine is built up around two elements that are essential for a lounge chair: carpentry and upholstery," says Duchaufour-Lawrance. The simple form references the classic club chair, but with a distinctly feminine attitude. "The lines are sensual and combine with the rounded interior in a lounge that both suggests comfort and actually is comfortable," Duchaufour-Lawrance adds. The gentle arc and slightly reclining posture make Catherine a welcoming chair. "Reminiscent of a long embrace, Catherine envelops you."

Born in South France, Noé Duchaufour-Lawrance is a designer of objects and interior environments. Following in the footsteps of his father, a sculptor, his artistic interests developed at an early age. Growing up in this creative atmosphere, he had the opportunity to define his own language: using natural shapes with smooth and organic lines which remain fluid and structured at the same time. After earning a degree in Metal Sculpture from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Appliqués et des Métiers d’Art, he studied furniture design at the renowned Les Arts Décoratifs.

Catherine lounge chair features an exposed wood trim in solid maple with an upholstered welt outlining the perimeter. The wood trim is offered in a variety of finish options with the lighter finishes showing the natural characteristics of the wood.
