Design Jay Novak, 2004
Maple, walnut or rosewood veneer
Made in USA by Modernica

Innovative, fluid and meticulous are words used to describe the Tenon series. Designed by Modernica's co-founder Jay Novak, his inspiration comes from a fascination with plywood, and his search for its optimum uses and most simplistic forms.

Constructed with 26 layers of the highest-quality hardwoods, the strength and resilience of the Tenon series is achieved with omni-directional connections of the plywood and Modernica's own unique T-shaped, mortise and tenon joint design. This combination creates seamless joints that are capable of absorbing any stresses that are placed upon the table, thus keeping it solid and stable through the years. Each foot of the table is capped with a detail of horizontal plywood - providing added protection for the life of the table and an attractive design detail.

The Case Study Tenon series is available in three sizes with your choice of a rosewood veneer, North American walnut veneer or maple veneer. The maple veneer has a classic lacquer finish. The rosewood and walnut veneers have a clear satin lacquer finish.

Modernica’s first official year as a furniture manufacturer came in 1989, after Frank and Jay Novak purchased 12,000 discarded plastic shell chairs and created bases and shock mounts for them. The shells had been discarded by Century Plastics, after Herman Miller discontinued their production of fiberglass chairs. Modernica founded their company on the heels of the North American Modernist movement and perpetuated the idea of the burgeoning modernist California lifestyle.
