In 1989 Cappellini first introduced his S-Chair, which is now in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York. His workshop "Space" became a design office in 1991 and from 1994, a space to show creations of younger designers. In the same year, Dixon's interests moved to plastics, opening "Eurolounge", then to the extrusion technique

Tom Dixon

Tom Dixon is a self-taught British designer. His career began when he discovered pleasure in welding while repairing damaged motorcycle frames after having been forced to leave his disco-punk band 'Funkapolitan' when he broke his leg in a motorcycle accident. He holds an Honorary Doctorate from Birmingham City University. He lives in London with his wife and two daughters and is often seen with his blind and deaf poodle, Molly.
Born into a family of furniture manufacturers, Giulio Cappellini began working for the family company in 1979, after earning his degree in architecture and studying business management. By the early 1980’s, Guilio’s leadership brought the Cappellini company into the world market from its three decade run as a handicraft furniture business. Hoping to expand the styles and materials used, Guilio scouted designers, bringing Jasper Morrison, Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, Marcel Wonders, Marc Newson, and Tom Dixon into the fold. Now, the firm boasts a varied, comprehensive collection rather than a singular style. Still, there are common threads: refined simplicity, dynamism, liveliness, humor.
