moorea arm chair
Design Vico Magistretti, 1999
Upholstered w/ chrome base
Made in Italy by Kartell
Comfortable, flexible, colorful, light. Moorea is a padded armchair, consisting internally of a unitised plastic body, fixed onto a chromed steel structure. The flexibility of the back is therefore combined with the comfort of the padding. The elegance of the design and formal simplicity make Moorea perfect for both the domestic environment and for communal spaces. It is in fact perfect for the kids' room, the study or the lounge, but also in the office, as an individual desk seat (thanks also to the revolving version), around the meeting table, or in a congress hall.
Hailed as one of the masters of modern Italian design, Vico Magistretti's work since the 60's includes a dazzling array of architecture, furniture and everyday objects. Vico Magistretti's designs combine the simplicity, rationality and modesty with playfulness, freshness, and spirit. Based in Milan, Vico Magistretti has won three Compasso d'Oro awards. His work is in museums worldwide.

magistretti, v.
Italian Vico Magistretti (1920 - 2006) was a graduate of the Politecnico di Milano University in 1945 who became a follower of Ernesto Nathan Rogers. He worked initially in urban design in Milan. In the 1950s he moved into the field of mass-produced furniture and lamps. Among others, he worked for the following companies: Artemide, Cassina, De Padova, Flou, Fritz hansen, Kartell, Schiffini. Magistretti's works have been shown in the most important international museums in Europe, USA, and Japan. Some have also been included in various permanent exhibitions museums, such as the MOMA.

Kartell's image and its 59 years of history are described through the company's products. The development, the corporate strategies, the attention the company has paid to technology, the project and the design can be appreciated by observing the products Kartell has produced. Kartell's products express the language and the atmosphere of the period in which they were created, but at the same time, they are "contemporary articles," they incorporate many other values and messages and this is why they have become an integral part of our domestic design world.
