Solid walnut, oak or ash wood, copper, upholstery
Made in Portugal by De La Espada

Stool 441 is reassuringly familiar but carefully detailed. Crafted in solid American white oak, black walnut or European ash carefully chosen and detailed with copper feet. Optional leather pad softens the seating area. Furniture you can sit on together, but still leaves room for the individual.

The timber is sustainably harvested and the farms are methodically cared for, ensuring exceptionally strong planks of the highest quality. Mortise and tenon joints, dovetailing and lap joints combined with slow-drying wood glue that seeps deep into the fibers of the solid wood creating strong, unbreakable bonds adding long life to every piece of furniture.

de la espada

De La Espada was founded by Luis De Oliveira and Fatima De La Espada in 1993. Hailing from Porto and Madrid respectively and educated in London, the founders opened the first De La Espada store in London in 1996, when there was comparatively little quality contemporary furniture in the city. De La Espada's dedicated factory in Portugal specializes in hand crafted traditional construction methods to create modern furniture with timeless appeal and the warmth of solid wood. The De La Espada aesthetic evolved from influences including the Arts and Crafts movement, architects such as Tadao Ando, John Pawson and Alvaro Siza, as well as Scandinavian design from the 1950’s.
