"Boredom is the mother of creativity" - Ron Arad

"Fantastic Plastic Elastic" is the name concealed behind the initials of this chair, characterised primarily by the formal solution, soft and sinuous, colorful and seductive. The seat/back body is grafted onto the supporting aluminium structure, giving the chair both qualities of resistance and flexibility and characteristics of lightness and practicality. Easy to stack, it lends itself to characterising communal places (from bars to work spaces) and domestic spaces. Thanks to the materials it is made of, it lives perfectly outside and stacks 8 high.

Hailed as one of the foremost designers of the 20th Century, Ron Arad was born in Tel Aviv and studied at the Jerusalem Academy of Art before moving to London and the Architectural Association where he studied under Peter Cook, founder of Archigram. Ron Arad has successfully established a unique design style using unorthodox combinations of materials and concepts.

Ron Arad

Hailed as one of the foremost designers of the 20th Century, Tel Aviv native Ron Arad attended the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design in Jerusalem from 1971-73 before moving to London to study under Peter Cook, founder of Archigram, at the Architectural Association. In 1981, he scoured a scrapyard and combined a car seat with a structural tubing frame to create the postmodern Rover Chair, whose popularity significantly launched his career. Ron Aradĺs unique design style would continue to use unorthodox combinations of materials and concepts. In 1994, he created the Bookworm bookshelf, a sturdy but flexible shelf that can coil or take on limitless shape. Employing bimorphic shapes from steel remained a trademark of Aradĺs works.
Kartell's image and its 59 years of history are described through the company's products. The development, the corporate strategies, the attention the company has paid to technology, the project and the design can be appreciated by observing the products Kartell has produced. Kartell's products express the language and the atmosphere of the period in which they were created, but at the same time, they are "contemporary articles," they incorporate many other values and messages and this is why they have become an integral part of our domestic design world.
