Castore is a series of table, floor or pendant lights which offer diffused incandescent or halogen lighting. The bell shaped diffuser design is enhanced by a removable-fitting and tapering luminous stem, that makes a sweet transition from the strong diffuser light to the blind lamp structure area. Ceiling rose and stem in thermoplastic resin with a hand blown glass diffuser with external etched finish. Open diffuser for Calice 18 and closed for Calice 42. Calice 18 is only available with an incandescent light source while Calice 42 is offered with either an incandescent or halogen light source. Mounts to standard electrical junction box.

Michele De Lucchi was born in 1951 in Ferrara and graduated in architecture in Florence. The Artemide light has never been solely a function of seeing, or an opportunity for formal experimentation with lamps as objects. For more than forty years, Artemide has aimed to propose light as a companion to people, as a source of physical pleasure and mental comfort. Artemide has done so, with different work groups, searching through the whole design process, starting with a declaration of values - The human light. Beyond the definition, the human light is intelligent light. A light that knows it has to relate to people, accompanying them in their daily activities.
