Maple wood, steel, multi-ply bentwood
Made in USA by Modernic

Inspired by the modernist case study homes in California at Mid-Century, the Case Study® Bedside table is a winning solution to what can be a perplexing design problem. Continuing a tradition of excellence with bedroom furnishings crafted entirely of laminated hardwood. All pieces in the Case Study family employ traditional wood joinery to form one solid unit, with the weight and integrity synonymous with old world craftsmanship.

The Case Study Bedside Table is uniquely functional with its 1.5" thick hardwood ply back frame with either two brushed-steel or bentwood v legs or wood legs that connect to the frame. The design includes the addition of 8" tall drawer. This classic hand crafted mid-century design is made to last a lifetime. Select either natural, classic or walnut finish.

starck, philippe

Paris-born Philippe Patrick Starck (b. 1949) has a wide range of design, but is very well known for his consumer goods and interiors. He was educated in Paris at the École Camondo and founded his first design firm, which specialized in inflatable objects, in 1968. The next year, he became art director of his firm along with Pierre Cardin. He has worked both independently as an interior designer and as a product designer since 1975. After designing the private apartment interiors for French President François Mitterrand in 1982, his career began to climb significantly. In 1986 he joined Domus Academy Department of Design as an associate lecturer. Two of Starck's famous designs include stylized toothbrushes (1989) and a sleek juicer dubbed the Juicy Salif created for Alessi in 1990. The Juicy Salif has become an affordable and popular cult item.
Modernica’s first official year as a furniture manufacturer came in 1989, after Frank and Jay Novak purchased 12,000 discarded plastic shell chairs and created bases and shock mounts for them. The shells had been discarded by Century Plastics, after Herman Miller discontinued their production of fiberglass chairs. Modernica founded their company on the heels of the North American Modernist movement and perpetuated the idea of the burgeoning modernist California lifestyle.
