Made in British Columbia by Bensen

Frame is a wood bed of balanced proportions that is comfortable and inviting. It comes with an all-wood Frame or optional upholstered headboard. The beauty of Frame is found in its details. Precision mitered corners provide an exact fit while also emphasizing the grain of the wood. The bed sits close to the ground and has inset legs; creating an impression of floating, at the same time the position of the legs prevent tripping. A European wood slat system fits neatly into rail slots for stability and aesthetic appeal. The upholstered headboard has an easily removable cover, for cleaning or replacement. Fabrics come in a variety of colors to match any interior.

The Frame bed is made up of a solid hardwood frame that comes in four finishes: walnut, wenge, grey oak and white oak. The wood grain is carefully matched, hand sanded and stained for consistency of appearance. The bed construction uses welded corner brackets that hide all hardware and connections under the mattress. The corner brackets are inter-changeable, making for simple connection of rails and stainless steel legs. The beech wood and rubber slat system provides continuous support for any mattress. The upholstered headboard provides firm support through layering of different densities of foam. The headboard is constructed of a solid laminated wood Frame fully foamed on all sides.

Niels Bendtsen

Born in Denmark, Niels Bendtsen and his family immigrated to Canada in 1951. In place of a formal design education, he trained as an apprentice for his father, who designed and built Scandinavain furniture. Through working with his father, Bendtsen gained valuable skills and a respect for non-industrial, hand-built traditions, but he was also intrigued by new technologies and ways to satisfy incresing demand. Between 1963 and 1972, Bendtsen had his own retail store where he sold his father's furniture, as well as imported Scandinavian designs. He designed small items for the store, but it wasn't until he was in his early thirties that he truly began designing furniture. Dissatisfied with the quality and limited functionality of the furniture he received from his overseas manufacturers, Bendtsen sold his store, moved to Europe and became a full time designer.
Bensen is a design and manufacturing group founded in 1981 by Niels Bendtsen. Along with his staff, Bendtsen designs and oversees production of an extensive line of furnishings. The Bensen philosophy balances simplicity and honesty so that the designs may continue to grow in today's ever changing world.
