Design Niels Bendtsen
Wood veneer, solid wood
Made in British Columbia by Bensen

The Hollywood series of tables is all about the legs, with each variation honoring a motion picture diva. The Russell continues this theme as a dining table. Russell has very clean lines and classic proportions that compliment any chair. Its wood finish, unique leg joint, and polished aluminum footplate give the table a restrained elegance.

Russell dining table seats 8 with plenty of room. It is much lighter than most tables of similar dimensions because of its unique construction, yet it is much sturdier and will not sag despite its large span.

The finish is made up of select solid wood and veneers that are carefully matched, sliced and stitched together for harmonious pattern and consistent coloration. A clear lacquer coat protects the veneer from daily use while bringing out the natural colors and patterns of select species. The hand polished aluminum leg shoes provide protection. The removable legs are easily attached and detached for shipment and easy movement.

Russell is available in wenge, grey oak, walnut and white oak.

Niels Bendtsen

Born in Denmark, Niels Bendtsen and his family immigrated to Canada in 1951. In place of a formal design education, he trained as an apprentice for his father, who designed and built Scandinavain furniture. Through working with his father, Bendtsen gained valuable skills and a respect for non-industrial, hand-built traditions, but he was also intrigued by new technologies and ways to satisfy incresing demand. Between 1963 and 1972, Bendtsen had his own retail store where he sold his father's furniture, as well as imported Scandinavian designs. He designed small items for the store, but it wasn't until he was in his early thirties that he truly began designing furniture. Dissatisfied with the quality and limited functionality of the furniture he received from his overseas manufacturers, Bendtsen sold his store, moved to Europe and became a full time designer.
Bensen is a design and manufacturing group founded in 1981 by Niels Bendtsen. Along with his staff, Bendtsen designs and oversees production of an extensive line of furnishings. The Bensen philosophy balances simplicity and honesty so that the designs may continue to grow in today's ever changing world.
