Design Marc Sadler, 2006
Coated fiberglass-based composite material, polycarbonate, metal & aluminum
Made in Italy by Foscarini

Twiggy family is elegant and sophisticated, light and lively, able to characterize any environment with great flexibility. Its natural shape, slender silhouette and high decorative value make it suitable for identifying and marking any area.

Twiggy's light, which thanks to its diffuser, is focused downwards to create accent light and also allows light to be reflected off the ceiling. The possibility of modulating the length of the stem and therefore the height of the diffuser make it possible to adapt Twiggy to different contexts.

A designer, Marc Sadler has worked a long time in the sports sector, where he's experimented with new materials and innovative production processes. He has also worked successfully in furnishing and consumer products.

Twiggy floor lamp offers direct & indirect light. Diffuser and rod are made of fiberglass-based composite material & liquid coated. Translucent polycarbonate upper diffuser disc, PMMA lower diffuser disc with polyprismatic internal surface. Epoxy powder coated metal round base. Supplied with 4 counter-weights to be inserted in the purpose-provided seat above the diffuser to adjust its height. For the LED version, the circuit boards were designed to achieve a superior level of color rendering (CRI) and retaining the same color temperature as a halogen light source (Kelvin). The black cable is fitted with a dimmer which can be used both to adjust the level of luminous intensity gradually or as the ON/OFF switch.

Available in your choice of five colors. Additional stem set available to increase height. Twiggy family is completed by the ceiling, table and pendant lamps.

foscarini

Riccardo Olivieri set up Foscarini Spa in Murano in 1981. Two years later, they debuted their catalog, with lamps from Carlo Urbinati and Allesandro Vecchiato, who would become the company’s managers by 1988. Eventually these new owners would move the company off the island and into Venice, as well as transition Foscarini from a glassworks shop to a major design competitor. They had already begun working with external designers in 1985, but their first success came in 1990 with Rodolfo Dordoni’s “Lumiere.” Most all lighting projects were made of glass until 1993, at which point the Havana lamp primarily used polyethylene, making it lighter, more cost-effective, and able to be used indoors and outdoors. It now resides in the MoMA in New York. Other successful lamps would come to define the company, such as the “Mite & Tite” series by Marc Sadler in 2000 (which earned a Compasso d’oro), Patricia Urquiola’s 2005 “Caboche,” and Marc Sadler’s signature lamp "Twiggy."
