Jorge Pensi
Versatile Spanish designer Jorge Pensi (b. 1946) of Buenos Aires has worked on interior, architectural, and industrial design projects, but is best known for his furniture and lighting. He became a Spanish citizen in 1975 and co-established a design practice with Alberto Lievore in Barcelona, as well as forming the Berenguer Group (founded 1977) with other designers. In 1984, he started his own practice to focus on furniture and lighting. His expressive Minimalist style showcases meticulously crafted cast aluminum furniture, and some of his best known works include the Toledo chair for Amat, the Regina lamp for B. Lux, the Artico and Duna collections for Cassina, and the Carma Table System and Pol seating range for Akaba. Internationally, he was awarded the Nuevo Estilo (1994), the Good Industrial Design Award in Holland (1995), and the Product Design Award at the 1997 Industrie Forum.
